Naming Ceremonies
The arrival of a baby is always a reason for celebration. A Naming Ceremony provides the opportunity for you, your family and friends to really welcome this new being into your lives in whatever way is appropriate to you.
Naming Ceremonies can have a two-fold purpose of welcoming and blessing the new baby as well as being a source of strength and support for the family unit that the child has been born into.
Naming Ceremonies can take place at home with just close relatives or in a larger setting with a wider circle of friends and family. Sometimes the parents choose people to be the child’s godparents or ‘guardians’ in a spiritual sense.
Often the grandparents and older siblings are involved in the ceremony to welcome the new family member. There are many traditional methods of welcoming a new baby into the world that can be drawn on or we can create a completely unique ceremony reflecting your family values and beliefs.
Sometimes people have a naming ceremony for an older child or for the name change of an adult.
